Enable Auto-sense to manage the VRF after it detects an ExtremeCloud SD-WAN peer.

This procedure does not apply to switch models that support only a single active VRF with IP configuration.

Before you begin

  • Create the VRF on the switch.
  • Enable Auto-sense on the port that connects to the SD-WAN Appliance.

About this task

Auto-sense automatically configures BGP and RIP redistribution policies between the selected VRFs and the dynamic SD-WAN VRF.

This feature applies only to VRFs that exist on the same Fabric Extend switch that connects to the SD-WAN Appliance, and only for local or direct subnets on the same VRF. IS-IS does not advertise the LBO-injected routes further than the local switch.

You cannot manually configure BGP on a VRF with an LBO configuration.

Procedure

  1. In the navigation pane, expand Configuration > VRF.
  2. Select VRF.
  3. Select the VRF tab.
  4. In Sd-Wan Local Breakout for the applicable VRF row, select true to enable LBO on the VRF.
  5. Select Apply.

VRF Field Descriptions

Use the data in the following table to help you use the VRF tab.

Name

Description

Id

Specifies the ID number of the VRF instance. VRF ID 0 is reserved for the GlobalRouter.

Name

Names the VRF instance.

ContextName

Identifies the VRF. The SNMPv2 Community String or SNMPv3 contextName denotes the VRF context and is used to logically separate the MIB port management.

TrapEnable

Enables the VRF to send VRF Lite-related traps (VrfUp and VrfDown). The default is enabled.

MaxRoutes

Note:

Exception: not supported on 5320-16P-4XE, 5320-16P-4XE-DC, 5320-24P-8XE, or 5320-24T-8XE.

Configures the maximum number of routes allowed for the VRF, which varies depending on the hardware. For scaling information, see Fabric Engine Release Notes.

The default value varies for the GlobalRouter and non-default VRFs, depending on your hardware platform.

RpTrigger

Specifies the Routing Protocol (RP) triggers for the VRF. The triggers are used to initiate or shutdown routing protocols on a VRF. You can act upon multiple RPs simultaneously. You can also use this option to bring individual RPs up in steps.

MaxRoutesTrapEnable

Enables the generation of the VRF Max Routes Exceeded traps. The default is enabled.

Ipv6MaxRoutes

Exception: not supported on 5320-16P-4XE, 5320-16P-4XE-DC, 5320-24P-8XE, or 5320-24T-8XE.

Configures the maximum number of IPv6 routes allowed for the VRF, which varies depending on the hardware. For scaling information, see Fabric Engine Release Notes.

Ipv6MaxRoutesTrapEnable

Enables SNMP trap generation after the maximum number of IPv6 routes are reached.

The default is enabled.

Active

Displays if the VRF is active (true).

The 16- and 24-port 5320 Series models support a single active VRF with IP configuration; the VRF can be the GlobalRouter (GRT) or a non-default VRF:

Origin

Displays the VRF origin.

CONFIG indicates the VRF was created manually. DYNAMIC indicates the VRF was created dynamically.

The Default VRF and the MGMT VRF are considered DYNAMIC.

Note: Only manually configured VRFs are visible in running-config.
Sd-Wan Local Breakout
Note: Not supported on switch models that support only a single active VRF with IP configuration.
Enables Local Breakout on the VRF. The default is false (disabled).
